Juggling household errands and other responsibilities while navigating the restrictions and demands of a long-term illness or disability can be stressful and exhausting. Just as important, perhaps even more so, it can reduce the amount of quality time we have available to spend with our loved ones. There are times when the reality of being a caregiver limits the time your family members would rather use simply visiting with you, sharing special memories, a holiday meal or enjoying listening to some music together. Milestone Health is a long-standing home care service provider operating in a number of Ontario locations including Barrie, Midland and Orillia, as well as Hamilton, Burlington and Oakville, to name just a few. In each of these areas, we offer a robust range of Home Health Care Services to support you or your loved one so that you can spend less time occupied with daily errands and tasks and more time making quality memories!

Plan for your needs

Recently, we spoke about planning for at home health care services, including what you should ask of any potential caregiver. Equally important however, is to first get a good sense of what types of services might be appropriate for you. Since Milestone Health provides everything from housekeeping, and personal care to medical support, and companionship, we can help customise a care plan that works perfectly for you. If mobility is an issue, you may prioritise assistance with personal care in the morning. Or, having a care worker join you at doctor’s appointments and while running errands may be of benefit. If you struggle to navigate the kitchen or be on your feet for long periods of time, perhaps you would like to have some support in cooking nutritious meals? In each of these areas we have qualified staff who can help.

Levels of care

In addition to those services already outlined, we’ll even complete light household tasks such as washing and folding laundry, preparing balanced meals, and even helping care for plants and pets. After all, pets are our loved ones too and for some, having a pet in the home is actually an aid to the recovery process. If safety supervision, medical reminders, and personal care services are what you require, we will make sure those needs are met. In other words, we can offer the emotional support and companionship you need to manage through a challenging time; in addition to any medical care, physical therapy, dementia care or other services that may be required.

Last, but certainly not least, recovering from a life-altering illness like a stroke can require many, and more highly skilled, types of services that only our professionally trained health care teams can provide. These may involve palliative care, personal care, respite services and even round the clock care. Providing this level of support would be difficult for family members. Specialised care managing wounds, IV’s and other more sensitive matters are a challenge for anyone other than caring, professional PSW’s and nurses. Luckily, Milestone Health will work with you to determine the appropriate level of nursing care you, or your loved one, requires.

Milestone Health has you covered. Ensuring you remain healthy, happy, and safe in the comfort of your own home is our priority. With your home care needs supported by our caring workers, you will find yourself comfortable and well cared for by trained medical care professionals, leaving your family with more available quality time to share together.
