Traumatic Head Injury

Traumatic brain injury care in the Halton region

In Canada alone, a brain injury occurs at a rate of 500 out of 100,000 individuals per year. The consequences of traumatic brain injury can be life-changing, especially for the victim and their family. It can also be challenging to navigate the complexities of the healthcare system.

At Milestone Health Services, we intend to overcome the stress and anxiety that arises with life-changing injuries such as traumatic brain injury. By supervising your loved one’s care and medical needs, we allow you to focus on what is truly valuable—your loved one. Not only do we provide primary care, but we can also act as a liaison between healthcare services and your family, ensuring that your loved one is receiving the best possible care.

What are the symptoms of traumatic brain injury or TBI?

When a traumatic brain injury occurs, symptoms are not as instantly obvious as with a broken bone or physical injury. More difficult to recognize are the changes in behaviour or personality that a person with a mild to severe traumatic brain injury usually experiences. It needs an experienced, qualified caregiver to know how to appropriately respond to these changes in a client with TBI.

Here are some behavioural symptoms of traumatic brain injury:

  • Broken relationships
  • Uncooperative behaviour
  • Denial of illness
  • Memory disorders

These symptoms can be complicated to adapt to a family member who feels as though they have lost their loved one. Rather than having to juggle the various responsibilities of caregiver, healthcare manager, family member, and sometimes more, you can just focus on caring for your loved one and maintaining a healthy relationship when you turn to Milestone Health Services.

We can develop a care plan to meet your needs

While our aim is to provide comprehensive home care services to clients in the comfort and safety of their own homes, we can also give service to clients in hospitals, nursing homes, retirement homes, and more. Our nurse managed caregivers can work collaboratively with other healthcare services in order to give the best care available to clients suffering from traumatic brain injuries.
